MI-VINE passes on data from those agencies. It does not create the jail record, sentence, parole order, or discharge certificate.

That distinction matters in Saginaw County. The Saginaw County Jail is run by the Sheriff, while Saginaw Correctional Facility is an MDOC prison. A person held in the jail may return to the community, move to MDOC, or leave under another authority. A person leaving the state prison may enter parole and remain in MDOC legal custody. The screen is an entry point, not proof of any one person’s status. Search details and available notification choices can change after the matching record is opened. Preserve the exact result label and facility name if the alert will later be compared with an agency record.

Register Saginaw Release Alerts

Registration begins from the matching person’s record. MI-VINE offers phone, email, and text channels when supported by the record and interface. Choose a contact method that will remain available. A registration attached to the wrong person or facility will not answer the intended custody question, so complete the identity check before entering contact details.

1. Open the verified person record and choose “Register” or “Get Notification.”
2. Select phone, email, text, or the combination offered.
3. Enter and confirm the requested destination information.
4. For a phone registration, create a four-digit personal identification number.
5. When the automated call arrives, enter that PIN followed by the pound sign to confirm receipt and stop repeat calls.
6. Save the registration information and update it if the phone number or email address changes.

Email and text notices do not use the telephone PIN. The public MI-VINE line is 800-770-7657, and TTY access is 866-847-1298. Those channels also help when online access is not practical. A current registration is prospective, meaning it is designed to report a later change. Official sources do not promise that old released results will stay searchable for a set period.

Saginaw Victim Notification Support

Saginaw County adds a local case-navigation layer beyond the automated MI-VINE service. The Saginaw County Prosecuting Attorney provides victim-rights assistance at 111 S. Michigan Avenue, Room 212, Saginaw. The office lists 989-790-5330 and generally posts weekday hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a noon to 1:00 p.m. lunch closure. This office can address its victim-rights and case functions, but it is not a general inmate locator.

That program and a public VINELink registration serve related but different roles. VINELink reports supported custody events. The MDOC unit handles state corrections victim services and added notices tied to its authority. For an urgent safety concern, do not rely on an automated status tool as the sole source.

Saginaw VINELink Results by Custodian

The same event word can require a different follow-up based on who held the person. For Saginaw County Jail custody, the Jail Shift Commander at 989-790-5432 or Sheriff Administration at 989-790-5400 can address a named release or transfer question. The jail’s official page prints a separate automated number with an 859 area code, which conflicts with the local official numbers. Verify that printed line through Sheriff Administration before relying on it. If documentary proof is needed, request the existing inmate-release form and transfer notation through Saginaw County FOIA.

For MDOC custody, VINELink should be reconciled with OTIS. Search by the six-digit MDOC number when available, or use the full name with careful filters. A profile can distinguish Current Status, Assigned Location, Earliest Release Date, Date Paroled, Maximum Discharge Date, and Discharge Date. Earliest Release Date means eligibility for parole consideration, not a promised exit. Date Paroled records physical release from prison to parole. The later Discharge Date ends MDOC jurisdiction. This source-by-source check prevents a common Saginaw error.
